Ive had my Deuce for about 3 years now and love the bike but .............. I would love to be able to carry more stuff (at times) and I love to listen to some tunes (ipod for now) and I sometimes feel whipped after a long ride (already have a windshield). So with that being said, I have considered a bagger for about a year now and Im thinking more strongly about it right now. I have customized the heck outta my Deuce and I somewhat hate to start over but its still all about the ride. I test rode a Road King at bike week last year and the tops of my legs were sore when I got off of the bike. It may have just been the stress of being on "somebody elses" bike. Im 5'5" tall and about 120 lbs. Ive been prowling around and I really like the looks of the Street Glide. Do you think that is "too much" bike for me? I like the fairing but how is it in the wind? I dont want to get blown over, lol. Any other female riders out there on a Glide?
This may sound strange, but regarding the leg pain. I had the same problem with my left leg. Removed the heel shifter and have much more room to move my feet. Solved the problem. I too am only 5'5".
I'm not female, and definitely don't weigh 120. Not since the 6th grade anyway. However, I have a really short inseam (28 inches). The StreetGlide is pretty low and I love it. I put the reach seat on to bring me a little lower. The fairing doesn't cause any problems in the wind for me, but I had to get a little taller windshield because of wind buffetting. I am 5'9". My mom is 5'2", and at age 62, has ridden my bike and loved it. Good luck.
The fairing on the EGlides causes no problems and probably makes the bike more stable. Let me toss out another option, have you looked at the Heritage Classic? A little lighter and lower and a very good ride. There is an optional tour trunk for them also.
OMG I soooooooooooo love the look of the street glide on dragginbaggers. My uncle rides a Heritage and I like the bike but Im still drawn back to the look of the Street Glide and after seeing that site.........Im going back to Walmart and see if the Greeter position that I applied for has been filled, I already work 8 - 9 hours a day and I have all this extra time, lol so who needs sleep right now..........
Duecegurl I too had a WG that was completely decked with chrome and all the cool stuff you could get. I had the same problem, wanting to carry more at all times but the WG looks so much better without saddlebags IMHO. For the past year was I had been looking at the touring bikes and finally jumped and do not miss the WG. Sure the look was cool with apehangers and it was fast, but still I dreamed of the touring bikes. I love this 07 EG Standard and the fairing has not caused any problems so far and its been to 100mph already. Also, I have not experienced the high speed wobble that other talk about, yet? You may need to do the dragginbaggers system but all in all you will be more happy with the touring rig if you go that route.
The other problem I had was my WG was paid for, DANG IT....
