Has anyone used the FRAM oil filters on their bike that they sell at Wal-Mart? I seen them last night. And noticed they have a Chrome one. And on trucks and such FRAM is a good filter.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience / Issues with them?
Thanks in Advance

I have not use them. I am sure there are some on here that have used them. For now I am sticking with the HD filters(get them from Zanotti's) or Amsoil oil filter. Give em a try and see what you think.
The internet is full of Fram filter haters. I'm not one of them. I've used them on my other vehicles for 20+ years with no problems.
I don't look use their bike filters, because I could never figure out if they were a 10 micron filter like the HD one was, which is now a 5 micron filter. The last time I checked out the Frams, they were the same filter that they had been making for the EVO. It appeared that they were not 10 micron filters.
Chrome filters? I skip on them for two reasons. Number one is cheapness. I don't see throwing $3-5 bucks extra in the trash every time I change them. Number two is heat. The chrome is nothing but an extra layer of insulation to trap heat in. The TC's run hot enough most of the time. Help in cooling is always welcomed, why trap in the heat if you don't have two?
I usually just order 6-10 black HD filters from one of the internet discount dealers like Chicago and always have on on hand when I need it.
I use the fram filter on a regular bases. Because of oil cooler I have to use the black one vs chrome. the chrome one is taller and won't clear my crank sensor.
There are other filters that will fit, but HD talks about theirs having special valving for oil return, why risk being turned down for a warranty issue because you opted for a non harley aproved part to save a buck or two, just forget the chrome and buy black.
Would not use a fram filter on my ex mother in laws lawn mower.
Agreed...I believe it was on Harley Tech Talk where this subject once came up and a young engineer weighed in with his opinion for the cheap quality of FRAM filters in every case, and how HE WOULD NOT USE THEM ON ANY VEHICLE HE OWNED....What made his argument hold even more weight, was the fact HE WAS A QUALITY CONTROL ENGINEER FOR FRAM!
That guys testimonial plus the evidence of material composition found in side by side testing, has kept me far away from FRAM products ever since.
