I am doing a DIY and mounting my garage door opener in the bat wing. I plan to wire the switch through one of the extra switch plates. but I am having a really hard time finding a waterproof momentary switch. Tried Radio Shack etc... Any ideas? Web sites?
I used a CVO elec. lock switch for tour pack and bags. I don't have the part# handy but the parts guys will know. It fits in one of the blanks on the console so it looks like it belongs there. It's not cheap, about $20 but it works and looks great. If you wire both sides of the switch, the opener works on both lock and unlock.
wire a relay into your horn wire up in the fairing, wire the contacts from the door opener to the relay, beep horn door up, beep horn door down. Pretty easy to do.
The newer garage door openers are not 12 volts. I wired mine into the high beam light switch initially then the motor for the garage door opener went out. All the replacements at Home Depot, etc were 3 volt so I had to rewire it using the remotes own power and the odometer reset switch.
I am diggin the odometer reset switch. Never thought o that one. Thanks for the idea
That's what I did. Since I don't have a fairing on the RK, I mounted it in the right side cover under the seat. Been working for almost 4 years through rain and washings with no issues.
