Insurance is costly :(
I'm paying between $600 and $700 per year for motorcycle coverage with Progressive (2004 FLHRSI). I've found them to be good to work with (during an accident involving my car), and they are reasonably competitive in terms of pricing in my area.
One thing you should be aware of, as long as you are looking. I notice you declined "uninsured motorist coverage" in your quote above. According to a lawyer named Philip Wakefield, who wrote an article in a column called "Lowdown on the Law" in QuickThrottle magazine, that could be a costly mistake.
Bottom line is the problem created by subrogation.
IF you are hit by an uninsured motorist, and IF your employer medical insurance pays your medical bills, and there is no one else to go after (uninsured motorist), then subrogation can result in you having to re-pay your medical bills back out of your pocket.
It sucks: if the accident is your fault, you're fine. But if the accident is NOT your fault, but is caused by an uninsured motorist, you DO have to repay your medical expenses covered by your employee health insurance. This is why you need to buy U.M. coverage even if you have health insurance. Wakefield recommends a minimum of $500K of U.M. (which is fairly cheap, I think mine raised the cost of my policy by $60 or so.)
This guy was the author of the article. Check it out, I suspect he'll confirm what he published:

Couldn't find his article in the archives, however, a more thorough search may come up with it: "Of all the numbers in my head the most important one is 500,000" 2009

Bottom line is that for $60-$70 bucks a year or so, you would be well advised to get policy quotes with $500K of uninsured motorist coverage included.
Obviously, none of us are ever going to get in an accident, and if we do, none of us will ever be seriously injured. But if you live in a part of the country with high numbers of folks like, for example, immigrants who lack appropriate state licenses or automobile insurance policies, uninsured motorist coverage might make a huge difference.
Just a thought. Your mileage may vary.
As has been mentioned, comparing rates from other areas is difficult (or useless...). However, I have higher coverage, including uninsured motorist, than the second quote with a lower premium than the first one (through Nationwide)...
