I called APS since they are local to me and was quoted $650 for an 8700 model headlamp. I was hoping they would be less than HD but it was $100 more.
Is the $524 price you mention above the HD price or is that what APS said they would sell you this black one for?

HD doesnt have black one offered yet, may be waiting to see how well the silver ones sell, but if they did offer the black I'd be real tempteed to pay HD's price, especially if you could get the auxillary lights smoked

The $524 is for the Harley customized version of the Model 8700, with the silver back. It may look odd, but you will get used to it and even learn to love it when you see how well this lights up the road! I have the LED headlamp and passing lamps, and no other vehicle I have been near on the road with me comes close to having either the same quantity nor quality of light that I do now. Semi trucks, cars, vans, many of which are HID equipped, it doesn't matter. Even a few cars with LED lamps themselves can't compete... the Harley LED setup rules the well-lit road! These things are incredible! IMHO, worth every penny.
