Default Ipod module install

Just wondering if anyone has installed the Ipod module on a 09-10 Street Glide...Just wondering if a person has to purchase the overlay harness and repin the radio plug or if one can get away with using the existing harness and repin the radio plug? From what I understand the overlay harness is so you can hook up a CB, Intercom or nav system but do you still have to repin the plug, if you have to repin the plug why bother purchasing unless there's some goofie *** plug that's needed on this harness to make the Ipod module work properly.....any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated.......Thanx

According to the installation instructions for the Ipod interface kit, you'll need the Connector Kit, p/n 69200033--basically it's an alternative to the non-Ultra overlay harness for connecting to the 35 wire plug on the HK radio that isn't used on the OEM non-Ultra EG, SG, and RG models.

If you haven't done so already, stop by an HD store and ask the parts guy to print out the installation instructions for the kit and you'll have a good idea of the wiring and installation.

Thanx Carl.....I reread the instructions and your right, the connector is an alternative to the overlay harness......calling HD today to get connector kit instead of the harness....PHEW, just about spend more $$ than I needed to...

Well, got the connectors from HD and installed the ipod module......works like a charm.....Even though the module isn't really that cheap being an HD product, installation was easy and being able to use the handlebar controls to control the ipod is really the cats a**......

Good for you!!! Always enjoy reading a DIY post with good results. When you have a chance, perhaps you can do a write-up "how to" and include a couple of pictures--those are the best threads IMO.

Ipod manual does say the I-phone 4 will work, you have to put in on "air plane" mode......have to watch which ipod a person has, manual says NOT to use an ipod with a hard drive.....as drive could be damaged....from vibration I would suspect...

with your installed module do you notice more of the lyrical sound coming form the right side speaker than the left? I installed it on a 2009 flhtc and this is what i am hearing.
