Hard starting
My 08 SG with Stage 1, PCV is slowly getting harder to start . It appears to be getting worse and worse every couple of days. I am wondering whether or not the PCV needs redone or not. I think I am going to put new plugs in tonight and see if it gets any better. Just had the 20,000 mile service done and asked them not to touch any remapping since I did not trust them. They said they would change plugs if it needed it but they did not. Any chance the PCV needs remapped or do they not change once programmed. It also appears to be running a little hot as it felt like the rear cyl stooped firing while at Del MarVa bike week over the weekend. Any help would be appreciated. Looked under the search feature and gave me everything but what I was looking for.......pretty normal for me using search LOL
I also experienced hard starting with the PCV and read a thread about a week ago about starting the bike right after you hit the run switch. Do not wait for the light to go out. My bike now starts without hardly turning over at all. Try this method, you have nothing to loose.

"....getting harder to start ....." I am sure you have a battery tender , that you use...
Do you hear any noise from the Starter or Primary area that sounds just a little off ?
If so it's your Starter Clutch.... if you have a "piggy back" PCV remove it..bring her in stock.
Take it to your shop...have them start it ...mention you think it's your starter clutch...they won't even hesitate....
While they are in the primary...you may find the Stator may be bad, as the Stater Clutch chews ups the gears as well...have them check the Compensator just in case.....
If you have SE Clutch Spring or dics make sure they know this if they have to replave the Sator, it comes as a complete kit, and you will get stuck with a stock clutch....yep happened to me just last week....
Harley replaces these Satter Clutches all the time..... Very wink link
Not waiting for the EFI not to be fully primed, IMOP is not the correct thing to do...

Several people on this site with PC-V units have reported hard starting if they let the bike sit for a few seconds after turning the switch on. I just installed a PC-V and have experienced this myself. However, if you hit the start button within 2 seconds of turning the switch on it starts very quickly every time. It's worth a try if your bike's symptoms are similar.
Replaced spark plugs and what a difference !!! Fires off immediatly as soon as I hit the starter buton. I am still waiting for the engine light to go out by the way. Definetly was the plugs...they looked great but obviously they were the issue.
