Default Baked Bugs on the lower forks

Anyone have suggestions on how to get rid of the bug splatters on the lower aluminum part of the forks? I have waxed and used a high speed buffer. It appears that they have baked into the metal.

Get rid of the aluminum and get chrome. Easy swap and can be had for cheap in the classifieds!

I use foaming glass cleaner with amonia. In ND we have a ton of bugs and I just spray it on and let it sit a minute and scrub them off. Works like a charm and only costs a few bucks.

If they are that hard to get off I am thinking the acid in the bug guts has etched the aluminum. If thats the case you would have to polish them. Like others have said chrome are nice and hold up better but its easy for us to spend your money isn't it? LOL

I learned this from others on this site. Try a 50/50 mix of Peroxide and water in a spray bottle. I tried this on my bugs, let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes and simply wiped the bugs off. It works better than anything else I have tried. Spray a fresh coat of Pledge after you remove the bugs and it looks new again.

I've used it on chrome and paint but don't know if anyone has had problems on aluminum.

Yes, this really works great! Keep the 50/50 mixture in a dark colored spray bottle....as the H202 (hydrogen peroxide) will turn to water when excessively exposed to light.

That is the way I wanted to explain it. The bugs have etched themselves into the aluminum. Is there some type of special polish I can use to buff them out?

+1 on the 50/50 Peroxide water. I use it all the time, works great. Good luck
