Ditto. Although I gotta say that new Street Glide looks good. I went to the dealer to buy a bulb and was like: WTF? You guys are killing me. The new SG is fantastic. In Black ice or whatever the hell its called. Looks black. Looks purple. Looks different in the sun. I buy this bike its all you guys fault!! Lol! A beautiful bike. Although the RG looks better. I always loved the look of the FLT. I can't believe I'm thinking of doing this. But you only live once and Im on the tail end of living. We will see.
After a few years on budget rides I spent a couple years on a Valkyrie and then a couple more on a Venture before trading UP to my "blue Caddi". I've had it for 8 months and still get that indescribable feeling every time I throw my leg over and roll on the throttle. I'm 51 and I can see myself easily riding this one well into retirement and may even trike it when I reach that stage of my riding career.
I'm at the top of the ladder at this point. Funny - when my wife moved up to her Street Glide in December, the dealer asked me what it would take to get me on a new one. I told him "Road Glide Ultra, with a 103 and Merlot/Cherry paint". Well, the Merlot didn't look right without the Cherry (when parked next to each other), so I went Vivid Black.
Every move I've made was a serious upgrade: '04 Dyna Wide Glide to '06 Road King, to '07 Road Glide, to '11 Road Glide Ultra. The RGU is by far the best HD I've ever ridden, and should last me until I'm ready for a trike. For me, it's the perfect Harley. Unless it gets totalled or stolen, it may well be my last motorcycle.
If I can get over my financial situation at the moment and get my mind made up on the cams, etc. , I hope this will last another 10 years plus.
I'll just keep making small improvements with paint, motorwork, etc.
I went through two other Harleys before I found this one, and it is perfect for me. I'll keep it until it falls apart. Having said that, I will likely add a UC to the garage sometime down the road.
This FLHR (my second Road King) will be with me for the rest of my life, though it will be joined in the garage by a Dyna frame based hotrod sometime soon.
That's what I'm thinking. I'd love to have a hotrod Wide Glide.
Coming up on 3 yrs with mine, and considering I just did an extreme make-over last winter, I'm guessing I'll keep her around for a a few more yrs. I'm waiting for the water cooled HD, and then maybe I'll buy...... Or switch to another make
Nice job making the classic into an Ultra - what faring did you go with...just curious? Looks like an 09 correct?
