There are some beautiful machines on this forum, most of them new or close to it. Many of you have put bunches of money into your bikes. I am curious if you plan to keep them a while, due to the dollars invested or if the lure of new models is too strong. Mine will be with me a good long time due to the mods I have done and the fact that I really love the old girl.
Coming up on 3 yrs with mine, and considering I just did an extreme make-over last winter, I'm guessing I'll keep her around for a a few more yrs. I'm waiting for the water cooled HD, and then maybe I'll buy...... Or switch to another make
As long as I can financially afford to keep it (barring a MAJOR crisis), I plan on keeping it forever, purchasing additional Harley's in future years, and hopefully passing mine onto a son.....
This, a 2011 Road Glide, is my 4th bike (3rd Harley) in 6 years. I had a Sporty for a year, a Low Rider for 4 years and a Triumph Thruxton for one. I fully plan on keeping this one for a long time as it is the first one I've bought that I just can't wait to get on again. I am like a proud new papa when I get on her and love waiving at other riders (HD or not) b/c I'm so ecstatic. I keep waiting for someone to pinch me. I have dumped sizeable amounts of cash'ola in previous bikes and no doubt will do the same with this one...after all, it is ONLY money. Seriously, I will not upgrade this girl nearly as fast since that's part of the fun of owning such great machines for me.
3 years now...52k miles can't get a good trade deal on it so i will keep it...will do cams in the winter...get or make a trailer. so i plan on keeping it for at least another 5 years or more.
My last tour bike I had for 10 years, did a lot to and with it in those years and I feel I got what i needed. Then i bought this '09 UC this year because it was time to switch. Love my 1st HD now and unless something major happens, I see me on this one easily for 10 years.
I've got a few years left in mine. I want to play around with the motor some, and I just wouldn't do that if I had paid a bunch of cash for a new bike.
