Default Chrome Gauge Bezels

Okay,

So I installed the HD chrome inner fairing kit and had a brain fart. When dealing with the 2" gauges, the kit comes with 1 longer piece of double sided tape (or whatever) that you have to cut in half and then each half gets cut into thirds and 3 strips go on each bezel.

Anyways, when I went to do the large gauges (speedo & tach) I followed suite by cutting the strips in half and then each half into thirds. The only problem is that they put 2 double sided strips in the kit and you're supposed to use 6 pieces on EACH bezel. Anyways, I put them on and the one on the tach doesn't fit snugly to the gauge and being a perfectionist, it's driving me insane.

Of course, the other strip inadvertently got thrown away.

So, any ideas about "redoing" the tach bezel? I hate to buy another kit only for the tape. I was thinking about trying some type of silicone. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

just get you some clear silicone and put 4 small dabs on it and you will be good to go. works better than the double sided tape.

+1, I always threw the stupid tape in the trash and used clear silicone.

Or go to your local auto parts store and buy the shortest and most narrow roll of two sided molding tape. I prefer the silicone method myself.

Ditto to the above. Never used the tape. I figured that if you had to service a gauge the silicone method would come into play anyway. Four dots and they've been on for two years.

Do the chrome trim rings really make that much of a difference? The rings on my bike are already pretty shiney.

I've got the standard black gauges that on on the EGC & UC. The chrome trim rings make a HUGE difference.

I believe the white face gauges (SG) have a bit of a chrome ring already and so the kit's not really required unless you prefer the look of the kit. I also know the Limited's also have the carbon fiber looking gauges that also have a chrome ring around them and they look good without too.

Soon I'll have pics!
