What kind of camera are you using?

Right now I just use my wife's camera (a powershot or something). I attached a ram ball where a tripod would attach and affixed it to another ram mount where the mirror hole is on my street glide. As I am riding, I would turn the camera on and snap a few photos while it is in the ram mount.

I know I should be keeping both hands on the controls and paying attention to the road.........

Just wondering if anyone else does this or how they capture some photos.

I leave the pic snapping to the wife. Unless of course she is the one being photographed.

I went with this camera. http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...p?product=1496

Packs easy, waterproof and very tough! Check Ebay and Amazon for good deals.

Nikon Coolpix seems ok. I don't take a lot of pics while at the controls. But will pull it out and snap a pic of a buddy riding next to me once in a while. Or the occasional wide shot scenic pic.

This camera looks pretty cool. Takes HD video and stills. Not a bad price either.
I hope to get one for next years riding season.

GoPro HD camera!!! It can't be beat. Like you I put a RAM handlebar mount with a camera mount and it worked great. The camera can be set up to take pics every 2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds. I bouth a 32Gig SD card and took over 2000 pics when I went to Sturgis. When I got home I downloaded and edited down my pics to around 150 really killer pics. The beauty of this camera is that is also does 1080HD video and comes with a waterproof case. Send me a PM and I can email you some pics that I took at Sturgis this year.

Thank you for the input. I've been looking at that camera and wanted to hear from someone that actually used it. I too went to Sturgis and only got about 200 pics. I need to get a mount and a camera that will survive being mounted on it. Sounds like this is the one! I like the idea that it will take pics automatically every x amount of seconds. Thats awesome.

I too leave the picture taking to the S/O.
She has a little Kodak M-381 w/an 8 gig SD chip. Not the best camera, but wouldn't loose much if she dropped it going down the road. I only use my SLR Nikon when stationary!!
Have been thinking of one of those helmet mounted setups...kinda spendy though!!
