My "backwards" 407F cupped a lot early on (around 4,000 miles). It howled when leaned over but the handling was fine. I replaced it with a 408 at 9,800 miles. At 8,000 miles the 408 is not cupped so much and makes less noise but won't last any longer than the 407. I'm OK with these tires.
My first D407F cupped and was replaced with money out of MY pocket. That was at 10,000 miles. I check my air pressure once a week and followed the manual about pressures. It still had plenty of tread but I didn't think it was safe. Dealer said they couldn't warranty it because at the time there were not many complaints of this problem. They said it was "normal" . The dealer didn't even have a D408F so they installed another D07F. I raised the pressure to 40 psi front and rear. That one lasted another 10k. I brought it back in and this time they warrantied it and installed a D408F. They also refunded the money I spent on the first replacement.
I replaced that one with 15k on it. I still had about 3/32 of tread, but getting ready to go on a long trip. I now inflate both tires to 40 psi and so far haven't had any problem with the D408F but I check them frequently.
It's the Dunlop 408F I have 6800 on my Road King. The front tire makes some noise laid over in a turn, but no cupping yet. How much air are you running? I run 40 PSI in mine.
I've been running 38 in front & 40 rear. Had dealer check it out completely right before Sturgis trip & that's what they set them @ too? Tire seemed fine before trip but 3600 mi. later cupped @ that pressure.

Reason: Spell
I have 8K on my 010 Ultra. No cupping. That was a problem with the 09's but I thought it was taken care of. Even so, I run 2 psi over what HD says. Over the years I had two other bikes with stock Dunlap's and they cupped badly until I went over recommended pressure.
I have the 408 on a 2010 fltrx the bars wiggled when turning fast I increased the tire pressure from 36 to 37 and it went away even though the manual says 36. Also only 1600 miles on bike. I have always changed out the Harley dunlops for metzelers
!4.5k apx.1500 mi.left on the rear 407.408f on the front looks like it's good for another 10,000 at least.I've been real pleased with these tires,no cupping at all.38lbs.front,40 in the rear.
