Default Brake lights / Turn signals

I have seen several kits that are plug N play for converting your rear turn signals into brake lights for extra visibility.

I read on one site, if you use your flashes it causes the module to over heat and could fail. I've used my flashes on more then on occasion and don't want to give up that option. I've used them in heavy rain and also while stopped along busy roads.

Has anyone experienced a fail module/switch because of this?
What brand would you recommend for an EG ?

thanks

I had HD the run/turn conversion on my EGlide and now on my RGlide. Never had a problem with it. Use them all the time in the rain, or even recently over the last 2 weeks in 95F weather daily to and from work where the road was tore up and I had to ride so slow on a 4way highway because my bike was floating on the grated road and it was also bumpy and had loose blacktop.

never had a problem with mine! I have had two, one HD one and one aftermarket one, the reason for the change was I changed to LEDs and the one I run now has a built in load equalizer. great option for little money!

Have the HD bar and shield in mine and didnt have to have a conversion kit. The wire the manual has you wire it makes them brake a s turn.

From the Panacea install instructions:

"Warning ! Load equalizers generate heat when in use . Avoid using the turn signals for an extended period of time, otherwise the load equalizer will overheat . Never operate the four-way flashers unless you first remove the load equali zer. Overheating damages the load equalizer causing loss of turn signal operation and could create a fire hazard!"

Not that all will cause a problem, but they seem to be pretty set on NOT using flashers, which is whay I am exploring other options...

I just had the dealer install the kit on my RKC and couldn't be happier it was a cheap upgrade $79 installed and it makes a world of difference in visible light when braking now and just from the lights being on in the night time.

Don't buy the Kuryakyn garbage. It will overheat and cause you problems. If you want to the best buy from Badlands and get their Illuminator with built in l/e. No matter how many lights or l.e.d.'s your run, it will not over heat.

I had used the Harley module , old style and new too.
Neither gave me any problems , but on this bike I went with the Badlands Illuminator module.
http://www.badlandsmotorcycleproduct...cts/BETCSM.htm
This was one of the only setups which can run mixed circuit LED's and standard bulbs and is compatible with the factory security module.
It also contains a load equalizer which will adapt to any load configuration you may run.
Supposedly you can run the 4 ways all day without overheating the unit.
I use Ridetime LED's for the directionals , added wire to make the stock tourpack stop lights into stop/turn/run/4 way and the module just does it's thing for me.
It's a little pricey , but it makes lighting real easy to do for the non electrical genius types that we usually are.
I got my stuff from Keith at http://www.ridetimetechnology.com/ He's really nice and ships quick.

I went with the HD unit. No issues here.

I use the Biketronics brake/turn unit on my 06 RK. I like that when braking it lets the turns go from nothing to fully lit, as opposed to being partially lit all the time for "run". More conspicuous when braking imo, and no problems noted when using flashers either.
