Default Wind Deflector Install

Just received chrome wind deflectors for my '09 FLHTC - HD part #58121-85B.

I've read several posts about installing these, and in some instances they needed to be installed on the opposite side from what the directions indicate. It's also possible that I misunderstood the posts, so there's that....

So my question - is this a straightforward install, or is/are there some trick(s) I should be aware of?

TIA for any help -
Rob

I installed them per the directions last year, no problems yet. I am going to follow this thread just in case I'm missing something.

Thanks, appreciate the input - I'm probably the one who missed something. If you were going to have problems you'd likely have had them by now.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow night and see how it goes.

Please post pics and a review once you get them installed.

Put some protective tape down first, or you may find your underlying chrome marked when you take them off.

To get the clearance I needed dealing with turn signals and lowers on my Ultra, I had to loosen the spot light brackets and move them slightly (their holes are elongated for adjustment), then realign the spot lights when down.

I don't have a Ultra, i have a Classic...mine go on in the winter and off in the spring...they take a good bit of wind off my legs...With the soft lowers they work great.

Considering the same deflectors to stop some 'updraft' on my '09 RK. ( I can hardly see thru my beard) Looking forward to all comments.

The fork deflectors don't do much for the "beard" updraft. Not sure on the '09, but look into the fork baffle that mounts under the tree. If you search for fork baffle on here I'm sure you'll find it. They come in black and chrome, tehy will let your beard stay under your chin where it belongs.

Put 'em on this morning, installed fine per the instructions so that settles that part.

Agree that you do have to be careful about positioning - between the spots, turns and crash bar there are several things to watch.

Rode about 100 miles this afternoon, some with a pretty fair headwind, and I think they make a big difference - FWIW I'd buy them again in a heartbeat - maybe faster.

Sorry but I didn't have time to take pics today, will do so tomorrow. I think they look great, but it's probably one of those "eye of the beholder" things.
