Joe, by the time you spend the $$$ for a detachable fairing you'll be close to what an Electra Glide Standard would cost; perhaps even the SG.

If you are comparing prices for police RK's (FLHP) to the Street Glide, they're less because they're RK's to start with (RK's are priced lower than SG's) and because it's a police model which have typically been priced $2K or so less than their civilian equivalents. As to why, part of it is HD aggressively pursues that market and competes against BMW and Honda for public contracts (low qualified bidder wins).

I really appreciate what you have to say. I really want the cruise and now I will get it. Did you install yours? I know the kit includes new switch housings. How did this work with the horn button etc.? Thanks for any assistance information you can give me. I don't mean to "hijack" this thread, but this is good news for me.

With a FBW bike the kit is just the the Right Side controls. If you have a WD for your bike you will see the wires that will need run on a Cop bike. Mine was an 08 so an 09 you will have to check. On my install there were some extra wires going from the front to the back under the tank already. I would assume they were old wires for the siren or horn. From here I just looked on the WD and saw the wires that I was missing. I think there was 3. Cruise Enable, Accell and Set Coast. Something like that. I ran the wires needed to the front and after that it is pretty much plug and play. PM me if you need some help. I don't want to hijack more than we already did. If you have a WD sitting there I can get mine out and we can go over it right quick on the phone. Let me know

I have an 09 FLHP and wont be trading or selling anytime soon. I know this time I have the right bike. It does come with the extras as metioned eariler. The bags and seat too some are ugly but to me its about funtion and I think there great. Something to think about batwings do limit visability a little you cant see through them Iam sure its somthing you can get used to quickly but Its what I noticed when demo riding a classic after coming off my softail. Dont know why yours doesnt have a windsheild but you will want one if you plan on riding very long.

I bought a 2009 FLHP on Sept. 7th with 3800 miles or so. One of the best decisions I've made in my life. In some ways, it's anti-Harley. Meaning, it's quiet, smooth as silk, but still ALL bike, no question it bleeds Harley soul. Really seems to be the best of all worlds. So far, I've not been bothered a bit by any engine heat so, as far as I know, the oil cooler is really doing its thing well, as well as the mid engine heat deflectors. My only concerns were highway wind buffeting and noise so....... I had some softail chrome wind deflectors that I tried to put on my Sporty but ended up using a dremmel and getting them on the FLHP. Already tried that on another bike so I knew that would be a game changer. Also have the half moon reflector installed underneath the triple tree. Just ordered some engine guard chaps from this place: http://www.airlite.ca/products.php
so, I've attacked that whole angle pretty hard and believe I can rest on it.

The FLHP is just so tight. It's very bad *** without bothering a soul.
Cruise control will probably be next, when the number's work. Oh, I added a Mustang Rider's Back Rest. Huge huge help.

I don't mean to "steal" this thread, but I am interested in your help with the cruise control. I will give you my cell # if you PM or e-mail me. Or, you can give me yours, whatever works.
Thanks, Bill
