Default Harley carbureted cruise control

Does anyone have experience with cruise and Mikuni carbs. I have found the adaptor but am also thinking of going to a CV44 with the cruise arm. I have not been very pleased with my Mikuni in the mountains. My build needs more flow than a CV40 will allow. Would love feedback from anyone who has used either set up. If anyone has a CV40 with cruise arm and no cruise I would love to purchase the arm to TIG weld to CV40 shaft.

Harley used the Mikuni Carburetor with two control cables and Factory Cruise Control for one year, 1989. In 1990 it changed and the cruise servo connection to the carburetor also changed. In 1989 the cruise used a three cable set up with a lever under the middle of the frame. This let the carburetor need only the two cables to operate. The servo was connected to the lever under the middle of the frame. It added the advantage that if you wanted to change the carburetor to a different one, even one not made by Harley, it worked. If the carburetor is made to accept the two stock cables, it would also work with the 1989 Cruise Control.

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but just wanted to put my personal experience here in case anyone comes across this thread.

If you do this conversion with the system mentioned above. The cables are too short. I've yet to find a way to convert this short of cutting some of the jacket off the throttle cable, which is risky business.... Ask me how I know. I came from a butterfly to a CV on an 89 FLTCU and neither cable would reach the linkage on a cv carb off of a 90 FLTCU.
