i have had 18700 miles of trouble free riding my 09 SG. but today coming home from work (25 miles) i started to have a slight decel pop. then set the cruise at 60mph and could notice a slight surge every 10-15 seconds. cannot hear it in the exhaust. no dash light.. but i will check for codes to see if any will come up... any thoughts???
ok guys i've been racin all kinds of motor vehicles and bikes for over 25 yrs.... but i have never seen anything like i have found on my SG. pulled the plugs. (Autolite 4614) they looked just fine untill i pointed the spark plug downward (as it would be installed) the porcelin had broke at the base (inside the plug) and slid down over the electrode coming in contact with the ground strap. this completely covers the spark... i have melted plugs burnt plugs and shot plugs thru the exhaust but never one fail this way... lesson learned...

i will get pics up this evening. plugs were changed by me at 10000 miles. no i did not drop them.. i am picky about plugs. over the years of drag racing with Nitrous and blower and alchol and other fuels. i have honed my skills in reading a plugs. this just baffles me. i am going to cut this plug open to look at it closly and the one that came out of the front cyl as well. pics will follow.

Had you not noticed the ceramic on the way back into the hole, you'd be still scratching your head. This story does seem to have a happy ending.
