Both the Rider and Passenger PTT button operate the same. If the Intercom is on, you can just talk and it works with Voice Activation. But if you want to speak softly and not yell or grunt to activate the Voice-activation, you can just push the button and it is activated. It makes it so you don't need to keep talking to have a conversation.
If the CB is on, the PTT button will turn on the CB transmitter. This is true for the passenger as well as the rider's PTT button. If you want to talk on the intercom only with the CB turned on, don't push the PTT button, or you will be transmitting the conversation over the CB. You will need to just use the Voice activation part of the intercom.
Both sound the same through the headset with the CB is on or off if you push the PTT button. The voice is in both headsets when ether PTT button is activated.
