Thumbs up Custom Dynamics - Working to Make It Right

Just in case you don't read all of the replies in this thread, here is a very kind response from Dave at Custom Dynamics:

I would like to offer you one of our Genesis II LED taillights at no cost. If you do not want the unit and are done with us I understand. Custom Dynamics has always strived to be #1 in customer service, we are not perfect and mistakes do happen, however we would like to make this right for you and attempt to make this a more positive experience for you as we believe that customer service and a customers experience with our company are of the utmost importance. Again if you are done with us I understand, but if you would like to give us a chance to try to make this right for you we will send you a Genesis II LED tailight of your choice at no cost and if you let me know what is going on with your turn signals we can try to rectify that situation also.

Thanks
Dave

And just in case you want to see my reply via email, I'll copy it into a new reply to the thread.

Another update:
I've changed the title of this thread to indicate how much Dave is working on this. He has suggested I bring my bike to the CD setup at Biketoberfest to make sure we get this right. A bad experience is now becoming a reminder that there are still some people out there who try hard to take care of their customers.

BTW, my wife followed me to a friends house to pick up some tickets to the UF vs. LSU game. The queen of "your bike looks great - why do you need to do anything else to it?" said, "I see why you're upset about that. It looks bad." I can laugh now, knowing that we are working on a solution.

Original post:
Kind of a long story - but changing all of my back lights to smoke. Tour pack lenses and lamps look great. Installed the tail light and it's ORANGE. Can't be orange, they said, because we don't make an amber lamp like that one. But maybe it's defective. So they decide to send me a "better" solution - an LED replacement. Needed it fast because I am riding Friday, Sunday, and Monday - so $35 to ship. Put the LED in and it's red - but doesn't light up the lens - just the circle where the LEDs are. My turn signals are more lighting surface than the tail light / brake light. So I called them. Yeah, they told me, that's a problem with those.

So why suggest that to me when I'm paying $35 to ship, rather than send me a not-defective incandescent lamp? Cuz now I've paid $35 bucks and my tail lamp still looks like crap.

So I said, how about we forget this solution, I pay more, you send me an LED plug-and-play, and I return the smoke lens.

Has the lens been on the bike? Of course it has, how else would I know it looks bad? Then it can't be returned.

Offered me a 5% discount, though. How generous - since I already had a 5% discount coupon with my order.

I wouldn't be so bothered if they had just sent me a regular red lamp for my $35. But to send something they said would be better and then say, yeah, those are a problem kinda stinks.

I don't care if the product is good or not if I get that kind of customer service.

So I'll go buy a plug-and-play tail light like I should have done from the beginning - but it won't come in a Custom Dynamics box.

Wow that is uncharacteristic for Custom Dynamics. I have been dealing with them for years and never had a single issue with CS.

Oh and do yourself a favor. Get a BrightAssLights tail. Pricey but worth it.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Radiantz and their products. Maybe you could give them a try. They are pretty damn bright too.

And it gets worse. I installed the turn signal lamps I ordered from CD.

Ordered tour pack lenses, brake/tail light lens and bulbs for HD smoked turn signal lenses. 3 different colors lights. Tour pack looks great. Tail light is orange. Turn signals are a pinkish-red color. Unbelievable.

Thanks for the heads up. Nothing worse than poor customer relations. Bad business, it will cost them more, because of your issue not being corrected and the loss of business from the people who read this, than it would have to rectify the problem.

There are so many things wrong with that story, I wouldn't do business with them either. They should have paid for the expidited shipping to begin with since the first try was unsuccessful due to an error in product (and what sounds like bad QC). What an @$$hat...did you put it on the bike? Really? I'm with Randtro, if you paid via credit card, mail the crap back and dispute the charges.

Really??? Do a search for Radiantz. I posted about my several fiascos with them. And others have as well. They will never see a penny from me again.

Paid for some with credit card, some with PayPal - but I'm not gonna dispute the charges. I have the merchandise, so I wouldn't feel right about that. They can keep my money. They just won't get any more from me. At this point, I think I'm going LED plug-and-play brake light, and will probably go ahead and switch all of the other lights to LED, which means a load equalizer. And I'm gonna put LED accents on the rest of the bike. Almost bought from CD at Thunder Beach in Panama City, then decided to do my stage 1 first. Now it's time. Tried a cheaper route first. Will go ahead and spend the money now - somewhere else. Going to Thunder in the Streets tomorrow with three different colors of red on the back of my bike. I'll ride sweeper so the other guys don't laugh too hard. Hopefully, I'll spend my money tomorrow. If not, Biketoberfest next weekend.
