Default Worth only changing headpipe

On a 2011 street glide with 103 would it be worth just changing the headpipe to a V&H power dual and keeping the stock mufflers? I would venture that the only gain would be a heat reduction and maybe a different sound. What do you think?

Never heard of anyone only changing just the headpipe. Although with the Cat converters in the headpipes now that might become a popular move. If it were me I would change the whole thing so everything works as a unit. The stock mufflers are very restrictive.

I changed the headpipe on my cat 09 SG and kept the stock mufflers. A lot cooler running and the mufflers sound quite a bit better.

I would say go for it. At least you will be loosing the cat. Then you could change the mufflers later on ifr you wanted.

Like others said... Yes to get rid of the cat.. you may want to check out Fullsac.com give Steve a call. He has a headpipe that eliminates the cat and re-uses the stock heat shield. Just another option.

Agreed with the last recommendations. You can always add different mufflers later. My combo is working very well - not load, but a better sound and improved performance.

There's a company americancustom.com will take your stock mufflers and give you the sound you want. You can listen to the three different baffles on their website. They also remove the cat from your header if you want.
