I put a set of the HD Chrome 2" pull back bars on my wifes SG Trike. Took around 6 hrs. I didn't have to change any cables. Just rerouted the clutch cable. I can see 8 or 9 hrs if you have to go into the brake system and change the wiring and clutch cable. Hers's some pics of the job. Not Bad!!!

With 11" bars you shouldn't have to add extensions to the wires. The cables are easy. It took me about 6 hours total. And that is with a couple of screw ups. I wired a molex connector backwards had to pull it apart and straighten that out. Yes, I did write out the diagram but I guess dislexia kicked in.

I would do it myself.

Most of the labor lies in the internal wiring. 9 hours seems slightly high, but only by an hour or two. Mine took about that long, but I had to walk away from it a couple times.

This post just crack me up sometime, You get a bike, **** a moan to pay a qualitfied tech to properly work on it. But then decide to go cheap because it is a easy job in others peoples eyes and then wind up with a shorted out cluster.

Me what ever I can not do after looking at the manual goes to the deal. FYI if you are going to tear into the bars you mind as well do the inner fairing. you are 80% there at ter down.

I took my time and just idled along on it and had it done over a weekend. The job didnt dominate the weekend, I still had fun with the family. That included extended brake lines and installing new chrome controls. THAT took some time.

Some of these mosts make me laugh. Taking 9 hours is not unreasonable at all. You have to remove the front fairing, radio, tank, and exhaust. Pulling the wiring inside the handlebars is tricky so IF you do it yourself, use a burring tool and make the holes a little bigger and remove all burrs. I did mine and I'm a pretty good wrench but it took all day. I also have ABS and bleeding them took time as you have to go back and forth between the two calipers and work all the air out.

Did Mine and 4-5 friends, none of which were high bars; four including mine were 2" pullbacks (factory Harley replacement bars 2" pullback). And no you dont need to change the mirrors unless you like the lollipop look. Also did internal wiring, and had the inner fairing painted . The job, minus the painting of inner which I farmed out, takes about 5 hrs. If you dont go nuts on the height of the bars you need to change nothing but the clutch cable.Mine is ABS 09 model as well as 3 of the other bikes I've done...I could see a couple more hrs Max if you need to extend anything..Its not that hard to do ..Take your time..Write everything down and take pics your first time..You'll enjoy yourself and learn something...Jus my 2 cts. ..Scooter
