Default Primary/Clutch Noise

I have a 2 wk old 2011 Road King Classic. The pipes on this are much quieter than the ones on my Fatboy were. Problem is, now I can hear everything.
How noisy shouold the primary/clutch area be when the motor is fully warmed up. It's not quite like marbles rolling around, but it does quiet down when I pull in the clutch.

Sorry! After looking into it further, the noise is coming from the tranny. Only in neutral with the clutch engaged. When I pull it in, noise is goone.

I have those same symptoms on my 09. Called Milwaukee and they told me that it is a function of torque pulses on the input shaft causing the lash in the teeth to get taken up back and forth. The contact from side to side is what you hear.
Don't know how accurate the info is but I'm just telling you what the moco told me. When I pull in my clutch lever, in neutral, standing still, the noise goes away. Let out the clutch lever and its back. Kinda like a small knocking noise.

Replace the tranny fluid with Redline Shockproof Heavy and it will help things a lot.

G Money....that's it exactly.
WOW! I must have one of the "GOOD" dealerships. Called them and explained the noise to them. Asked if it was "normal". They said absolutely not. Told me to bring it in and that it was probably a minor adjustment.
After that, I'll replace the tranny fluid with Redline.

Before we celebrate, wait till you get it back and they tell you its normal, then tell me your reaction. I had my bike at an NHRA event and HD had a big display there. The moco reps were there. They all heard it and went back to milwaukee and checked with the transmission guys at the moco. The explanation I gave you is the one they gave me. Normal. The good news is that I've been running it that way for two years now and nothing has come of it. BUT, my warranty runs out at the end of this month. LOL. Its a knocking noise that you really have to be listening for. Mine sounds like its coming from under the clutch release cover.

LOL! This isn't my first HOG. I've dealt with the so called normal noises before. At least I didn't get the "it's normal" brush-off over the phone.
The noise you have is exactly what I'm experiencing. Same location, same symptoms.

If you find an answer, please let me know. Like I said, mine, you really have to listen for. When on the kickstand and you are standing on the right side of the bike, its easy to pick up. On the left side, not so easy. Pull in the clutch lever and it goes away. I don't know about the explanation I gave you, but it sounds good to me. Came right from the transmission expert at the moco. If you find out different, let me know. Especially before my warranty runs out in three weeks!
Thanks
Gary D.
