Did you have SG shocks on the 03 EG?
Did the RG bottom out before you installed the SG shocks?
Although the shocks on your 03 were similar to those on your 09, they have been 'improved' and later ones work with higher pressures. Your 03 probably had a max pressure of around 20psi, your 09 are around 50psi.
Your original 09 shocks had about 3" of travel and you have lost some of that with the SG shocks. As 07FLHT asks, did your original 09 shocks bottom out? If not put them back on!
no they did not bottom out the reason for the swicth was rg was13in sg was12in wanted to drop dn a little and keep my ride a guess cant have the best of both worlds.can i move the block up in the shock
If you want to keep the low ride height I suggest you consider custom shocks. HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal can supply shorter shocks with good travel that should hold you both up and give you as good or even a better ride. Give Howard there a call.
You don't have a lowering kit on there too, do you? If so, get rid of it.
+1 If you have a lowering kit & SG shocks riding 2 up your asking for problems!
Edit: Have you looked into any air ride systems? I have an Arnott system & it gives you the best of both worlds, ride slammed solo, pump it up a bit 2 up and a little more 2 up & loaded! Plus, even @ 6'1" & 280+#'s, pushing the bike around is way easier slammed, even more so pushing backwards!
plenty of people riding 09 and up streetglides or cvo fuglies with same 12 inch shocks, how much weight are you carrying and or maybe the shocks you got were bad?? its only 1 inch difference, what are people running as far as air pressure in 09 streetglides or cvo's?
Any oil in those shocks you put on there. Not being an *** just trying to help. I know that would be pretty obvious and I am sure you checked but it might be worth draining them out and re-filling to be sure they have the proper levels.
