Default Long Ride Shields

I took advantage of the sale LRS was having and bought the 7" ULTRA Flip-Up Dark Grey tint. Nothing like having 3 or 4 spare windshields laying around the garage. ..."but babe, this is my man cave....and I might use those again some day"..........yeah, that works!

I got a couple of questions. Did you test it yet? How does it compare with respect to others? How tall are you? I guess that is more than a couple. Thanks.

I won't get it til Wednesday, so no testing yet. I'm 6' tall, but I've been running a 6" black windshield for a couple of years now.

I have a 7" X-tream. Bought it about July, just took it off as I will be bringing it with me when I rent a bike in Vegas this fall. It works great, blocks a lot of wind, however I still get wind coming from under the fairing (i suggest the deflectors to stop this). I can hear the stereo much better also. I do like the look of the ultra flip up better but never tried it. I'm 6'2" and have a Tall boy seat on my SG. So I sit back a little further than stock. I find more wind goes around me than over me. Sunglasses still shake over 100 ;-)

I have both 8" in Med Grey in the X and the Classic, and went w 7" Ultra in Light Grey. The Ultra definetly blocks more wind and you can hear the radio better but you do notice the windy days more. The X is great for stability and you can use a size taller since it slopes back. I got the Ultra in 7" so I could use in colder weather and with both solo and stock seat. I like the Light Grey better also even thought I look over it on the road you can see better when in traffic, I'm 5' 8". I was a tester on the X and Matt was great to work with.

I am 5.10" (32" inseam) and I have the LRS 9" Ultra Curve on my '09 SG. I also have the 13" Harley rear shocks and the SE seat (resulting in same seating height and more shock travel).

It is perfect for me. I can see over the windshield and it blocks most of the wind.

The turbulence is from wind coming from under the fairing. The fork mouted wind deflectors do an amazing job to stop most of that.

The fairing wind deflectors do a good job focusing the air on me when it is hot. They have no effect on the turbulence (at least, nothing that I can tell).

If I like the 7" Ultra, I might then order a taller one in a light tint for riding this winter. It's been awhile since I've had anything taller than my 6" black windshield on the bike.
