Thanks for the part # and yes the Lincoln guns look #1 too me. I'm thinking that I'll have to end up with a different gun anyway. I'm not having trouble getting the adapter to go on the zerk , it just isn't letting the grease flow to the bearing. Cheap gun I'm afraid. I might try the Snap On fitting if that is all it costs. A truck stops at our shop once a week so I'll check with him. Thanks
Tom
Have you lubed the steering bearings on this bike before? In order for the grease to "flow to the bearing" the steering neck has to be filled with grease. Why not remove the zerk and see if you can pump grease through it? I use NAPA high temp bearing grease which is "thick" and has a high drop point.
All my years of building and riding Harleys never once had to regrease neck bearings. The one bike that had been over greased was such a mess had the pull the trees to clean out all the excess grease.Of course it is your choice.
I have never greased mine since new. It took me three years to get it to stop running down my fork tube I cant see putting anymore back in.
A BIG +1 to you and dog155
Leave well enough alone. Those head bearings need only a little grease to keep them happy and come with at least one lifetime's worth right from the factory.

Sorry I learned a hard lesson with ball joints years ago when it came to sealed from the factory . I'll clean the mess up if I get too carried away. That zerk fitting is there for a reason.
I'd just swap the fitting and forget the adapter. 50 cents vs. 11 bucks is a no brainer to me. At any rate, I vote to grease the bearings. Sure, you may get some mess, but at least you know you will have grease there. I've greased mine regularly for over a decade and never had an issue with grease running out and making a mess.
