Default Fuel Pak Install Question

So I finally got a used Fuel Pak and installed it on my 05 Electra Glide Classic. All went pretty smooth except for a couple of things.
Be very careful when loosening the two bolts that hold your ECM to the mounting panel. They are threaded into brass bushings that appear to be set or glued to the plastic panel. The second bolt just spun the bushing around.
The only fix was to either replace the back panel or tie wrap the FP until I replace the back panel. No big deal really.

The problem that I'm having is that when I pop the side cover back on, the bottom mount won't hold. It seems like there's not enough room in there to for the side cover to fit properly. I tied wrapped everything down as much as possible without stressing the harnesses. Has anyone had this same problem? And does anyone have any pics or a fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

If you have not attempted this already, may have too much of the harness located behind side panel and you might have to scoot the fuel pak up, down, left, or right a bit. If this is just a cable issue, see if you can route some of the cable back to (under the seat) area, or you may should have cut some excess off if that’s the case. Wish I could give help you more… Good luck

Thanks sbyumabaker!

Yeah I probably have to play with it a little more. I might try changing the rubber grommet that holds the side cover on too. That might have loosened up too. I was just wondering if anyone here had any thoughts that I'm missing too.

Semper Fi! And thank you for your service in the Corps

Thought I would give ya a heads up on the Fuelpak, if the bikes seems to jerk when ya let off the throttle and mode 23 is at 16 bump it up to 20 and the jerking will stop along with some backfire. Now mode 17 adjusts the AFR, so to add fuel bump it to 1 or 2 if need be to help it run cooler. Just my .02 if ya need it.

Same thing happened to me on my install. Cable tied it to my ECM without the "spider mount bracket thing attached and fit under cover just fine. No problems yet (3 years).

Awesome guys!!! Thank You!!!

Phat09flhx, no jerking on decel really but I will try your suggestions both ways to see if I might be able to get a bit more out of this. I didn't really notice too much of an increase in performance when I added the FP and the breather kit. It seems like most of the performance came when I first added the SuperTrapp SEs.

BackRoader, I might try that with the tie wraps. The guys at the dealership suggested that too when I spun the top brass bushing on the plastic mounting block.

Thanks guys!

Phat09flhx,

I changed the three modes that you suggested. What a HUGE difference! I can actually HEAR the bike running better too. I also replaced the rubber grommets and they seem to be holding the panel much better.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I have the bike listed below, with the listed mods, would the adjustments you just listed also work for my bike? I get a bit of backfiring on decel sometimes and occasionally when I am changing gears. None of it is very bad, but if I could eliminate it I will.

I'll let Phat09flhx comment on that Guntoter. However, that's what I like about the Fuel Pak for my applications. You can change the modes very easily and if they don't work, change them right back. No muss, no fuss.
I started with FP-1426 and then modded it to Phat09flhx's suggestions....

Hope this helps.
