I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a set of Rineharts True Duals for my SG, but I have some questions.
A friend of mine put some on his Road King over a year ago. So I know he has the older style. The left pipe seems to stick out a little further than the stock pipe. I was wondering if the new Rineharts (#1800-0242) have the same issue. I know they redesigned the mufflers, baffles and mounting bracket.
With the stock pipes, the left side passenger footpeg on my SG comes really close to hitting the exhaust when it's in the up position. There's only about 1/4" gap between the peg and the pipe. So if I get the Rineharts, will they hit?
I have seem some ads for Rineharts stating the passenger foot peg needs to be repositioned. Again is that just for the old style?
have had mine bout 19 months, didnt have to change locations on anything, didnt connect the brace, and have had no problems. they do stick out more than the stock ones, but i personally like it that way. good luck with yours!
Go with the Rineharts. Their customer service is fantastic. I have the old style and my rear header finally broke at the bracket that used to connect to the starter bracket. No problem getting a replacement. You have to put spacers (supplied by Rinehart) on the right rider floorboard to move it out just a little. No problem at all with the passenger floor boards. The quality of mine (except for the welded bracket) has been great. The chrome has held up really well an no discoloring.
I put rineharts on my 06 SG and heres what problems I had: The front head pipe was so close to the timing cover that you couldn't fit a piece of paper between it and the pipe. On your passenger pegs you will have to move it up (1) hole. Not a problem.
as far as the front head pipe goes I called bub customer service and they sent me a new front pipe out with a call tag to send the other one back. Take a look around and you'll see a lot of front head pipes hitting or too close. Overall they look and soung great. Good luck
