New Road King Owner
I just acquired a 2008 Road King in Crimson Red Sunglo/Candy Red Sunglo. Coming from Ducati's, it's quite a pendulum swing for me!
Initially, I thought of trading it on something sportier, like a Fat Boy, but the bagger is growing on me. I'm still on the fence, but I'm slowly tilting in favor of keeping the Road King. I've seen a lot of folks go from a Fat Boy to a Road King, but it doesn't seem many have gone the other way.
I do have a bunch of questions, so my apologies if this has been covered in the past:
1. I need to touch up a couple of dings, but don't really want to fiddle with the multi-part paint situation. Has anyone figured a one-step that comes close? I know about the situation with matching the metal flake, but I'm just looking to make the dings less noticable.
2. Anyone had issues with the bolt heads on the hose clamps that secure the chrome head shields rusting? Mine is a garage kept bike, so I was surprised to see it.
3. Anyone use aftermarket chrome? Are you happy with it? Who are you using?
4. Is there such a place that sells genuine Harley parts for less than MSRP? I'm sure that should get a laugh!
Thanks!!

Chrome:I've used Kuryakyn with great success.
Discount: I've come to love Zanotti's. I just made a major item order plus three gauges, + shipping & it was $7 less than the major item alone + tax at my local store. I even asked my local store if they'd give me a 15% discount, I'd get my stuff there even though the cost would be more than Zanotti's. The store manager nixed it.
Harley apparently has put pressure on the discounting dealers not to discount, & I don't want to provide too much publicity and kill the goose that lays the golden egg.
You'll love the King. You will find the long-ride comfort will exceed the Fat Boy. Love what you have & don't look back.
I had some exhaust clamps rust and was able to replace them with stainless steel one from my local hardware store.
Enjoy your RK, I know I sure do. And don't let these guys tell you that you should have gotten a fairing. That's was nice about a RK, you can just add it if you want it. It's a very versitile bike and that is what makes it so great.

Don't know where you live, but by the looks of your screen name it must be near the ocean. Go with Kuryakyn. It's affordable, and living by the ocean, if the salt makes it pit, it's cheaper to replace.
Congratulations.
That's why I'm confused...
