after hitting a moose on my roadie with a engine guard and having it save my leg from being ground down and i slide down the road. i will never have a bike without one.
check out banana boards and with floorboard extensions you could have a bit more stretch room
yeah i've been dying to get some cyclesmiths 19" (i think) banana boards, those things would do some serious help with my size 14s. I think kury also makes a mount like fbi jack knifes that doesn't fold back in.
If you think engine guards look good then keep them. I tossed mine in the dumpster as soon as I got my new bike home. Layed the beast down at Lake Mead turning off the road to a rest area and front end let go in sand or gravel on the pavement. Landed on my feet running . Hell of a time picking the bike up. That's where the engine guards would have been worth having. The batwing was scratched, but the drivetrain survived unharmed. If the cosmetics are damaged, to the dealer it goes and a call to the insurance company to follow. Don't want that thing on my bike and will pay the consiquiences if I damage the bike again. Not ragging on bikes with engine guards, all our bikes should be personalized to our likings and who cares what some clown thinks about your ride.
