Default Problem with Rider Backrest Pad

Need to remove the Rider Backrest Pad (Comfort Stitch, 52572-09A) so that I can access the battery area.

How do you do that?

I thought I would just be able to pull up on the backrest and remove it but it's stuck tight. What am I doing wrong?

Yep, squeeze the two rods toward each other & pull up - should come off.

OK, that's what I thought and what I remember from my last bike.

Gonna have to break out the pipe wrench to get this one off....

Make sure that your not pulling both rods to one side, if you do it can still hang up. Make sure your squeezing both rods to the center.

Finally got it out. My hand is almost too big to push down into that space far enough to push the ends together but I was finally successful.

Say, what's the little pigtail thingy attached to the battery? Is that for a battery tender or is that just a 12v dc accessory plug?

The deeper you can get your hand down the seat opening the easier it is to squeeze

Sounds like ****....

If it looks like this - it's for a tender.
