Yeah man. Dino in the motor makes the tranny clunk better. He he!
He was talking about engine oil wasn't he?
I got a funny story for you. I've been using Redline oil in my tranny on the last two bikes. Started using it last year in my 08 UC on the advice from HogDoc and some others on here. Don't see HogDoc much anymore, what happened to him? Anyway, I went out to a local indy to pickup some Amsoil grease for my neck bearings. Talking about oil with him, I mentioned I was using Redline in my tranny. You would think I slapped him. His face turned Red because first off he's an Amsoil man. second he started telling me what a pain in the azz it was to clean the Redline off the gear's. I don't think he liked it when I said, That's why it works so good. The coating protects the gears.
I have been using HD Dino since the 60's, never had an oil related problem. My bikes just died of old age.
Exactly. And I've torn down some high mile engines and they weren't all gunked up from running dino oil for 50 to 60 thousand miles.
But I'm always willing to try something new, and last summer I tried synthetic.
For the life of me, I can't understand why this subject gets so contentious. I run dino oil. My closest riding bro runs nothing but Amsoil. Yet somehow we manage to ride together without any problems whatsoever.

That is interesting how "in real life" we don't get so heated during oil discussions. LOL

I've heard the same complaints from other Indy's. Royal pain for them because it clings so good. Too funny! I call it good advertising when they complain.
I havn't heard anything about Hogdoc. I hope he's okay.

You busted me there. LOL Sure don't take much to throw a thread off course these days.
HD was unsuccessful trying to patent a sound.
They were? I never knew that. I always thought the won that.
You know how rumors go.
Harley wasn't trying to patent their sound they were trying to register it as a trademark. It's my understanding after 6 years of legal wrangling Harley withdrew their request for a trademark.
