Just changed mine over at 34K and the front one was at 75% good and the rear was less than 50%. Went all Screaming Eagle plate, pump, Hydra. Tensioners, 204 Cams and a Stage 1 Carb kit. Am just trying to get the inner bearing removal tool and installer without having to buy one.

I am one of the rare people that ALMOST had an issue with the late model ones.
At about 9,500 miles I did the 103" Stage II upgrade on my bike. Something had gone wrong with the outer chain tensioner, I am presuming the internal spring, and it was jammed into a fully extended position and had a nice groove worn in it. For $90 I bought a new outer and inner one and replaced both of them. The inner one wasn't warn, but better to be safe than sorry since I already had it apart.
The moral of the story is that it's never a bad thing to check them out every so often whether you have the new style or the old style.
