Thanks guys, I think the oil I used had the friction modifiers in it, I used the higher priced Pennzoil 10w-40 in the yellow container. I didn't save the bottle though to verify the decal.
Don't worry about it-- if you don't regularly beat on it and the clutch is not slipping it's not problem.
I used to run Dexron II ATF (has some friction modifiers) in my Evo standard glide and it was smooth as could be where Type F ATF (no friction modifiers) was a bit "grabby" in the clutch.
If it really bothers you just change it out and don't worry about flushing the remains out. No cause for concern,,,,

I used B&M Trick Shift once and flushed it out after 500 miles because my clutch was way too grabby. This was very strange. Now I use Mobil1 15W-50 and it's smooth as silk. Go figure!
Funny, you weren't thinking that way when you forked out the cash for the big Harley. A cheaper bike would have worked "just as well". LOL
I've tried all kinds of experiments in my primary over the years until I found one that shifted the smoothest and still gives me great "bite" with the clutch. Redline MTL (same formula as Redline primary fluid).
You payed all that money for your bike, why don't you just listen to HD and use what they recommended. You don't even seem to be following your own advice.
You are using what you FEEL works best, surely HD has done more professional testing.
One thing to remember, off-brand (generic) oils are not made by the stores. The stores don't have their own refineries. It comes from the same exact refineries as the "name brands", it just gets a different label. Nothing is added once it leaves the refinery. Nothing at all.
There is no such thing (anymore) as "cheap" oil. The days of Quaker state leaving POUNDS of buildup in the valve area are over. Thank God. I have seen it so bad back in the 70s and early 80s that no oil could return through any drain holes on a V8 engine. I hope those days never return.
As far as the generic brands made by "big" oil companies, I have worked in the tape industry and the tire industry, and what I have seen regarding brand names vs generics being interchanged right up to the end would shock many people. There are 4 brands of tire, which are absolutely identical, from beginning to end, even mold times, but the prices would be 33% different. Oughta be illegal, lmao.
If buying expensive oils makes you happy, go for it. But as long as the class is correct for that purpose, it is money down the drain. (literally).
1 quart of Redline Synthetic Primary Chain Oil about once a year or so, and no need to memorize stickers on cans.
Redline "Shockproof heavy" in the transmission~100% Synthetic
Mobil 1 V-Twin oil in the motor.
Best way to go, IMHO.

I have the same good luck with the same combo. The only difference is that I tried a bunch of other oils in my primary before figuring out the Redline primary oil is the best for that spot.

Rubbish.
Different brands have different formulas and additives.
Likely added before leaving the refinery, but different formulas none the less.

We are not talking about tape, nor tires. Hello?
Why do people always do that! Comparing apples to oranges. WTF
"I won't eat oranges cuz I had the taste of apples!" Bwahahaha!
