Default The sickness continues

On the verge of ordering a new 2011 Road King when I come across a 2003 Silver Road King Classic, dripping in chrome with only 2,000 miles. Obviously this bike looks way better than the new 2011 I am contemplating.

Having owned two 2009 touring models, I can appreciate the difference in the frames and resulting handling as well as the better brakes but I am seriously thinking about purchasing the 2003 as well.

My question is...are there any major quirks or issues with that model year (other than the cam chain tensioners)?

Thanks for the feedback!

I had no qualms swapping the '08 Fatboy for a '03 RKC.

I've always liked the 100th anniversary silver and black. Truth be told, I was looking for a RKC 100th bike before I bought my 08 RKC. At the time, they were just way too proud of them and wanted way too much money. Looking back, I am glad I didn't, mainly because of the cost of the paint and add-ons to match it. If I were to scratch it, it was a high dollar repair. But they are beautiful to look at and I would love to have a DWG in my garage in the silver/black combo. 2000 miles is awesome for a now 8 yr old bike, I'd seriously consider it if the price was right. What are they asking, and what are the options and add-ons?

You've pretty much summed up the major differences - I've always been a fan of the '03 anniversary models. Weigh pro's/cons & take the plunge.

Silver and Black on the 2003's very beautiful color. Could imagine more bee-you-tee-full on RKC. Go and buy it if everything matches and suits your taste.

Good Luck,

Thorey

Twilight zone.....was doing exact same thing, looking for a silver/black Ultra or Road King but prices were always too high for a 5 y/o scoot and so bought the black 08 new RKC instead.

Mother Road HD just happened to have one in last weekend and pricing is now more in line with age. Thought hard for a few minutes about adding to the stable........but I backed away. Still, would not hesitate if $$ was not a consideration.

that silver and black color combo is intoxicating -- how much for the 03?
