Default 2010 Road king or Road Glide Custom

I am looking at coming over to the touring side. Just not sure what route to go. I have posted some otd prices on road glides from my local dealers. But I got to thinking about a Road King.
What are your tourning minds thinking? I do like sitting in the bike like my softail but I think I am ready for change

Thank for the help.

I chose a RK because I wanted the option of having either a nostalgic cruiser/bagger (no fairings, with or without the windshield, etc.), or the functionality of a full touring bike (w/add-ons). I think it is the most versatile in the touring bike line. Just keep in mind that if you start dressing it as full touring bike (upper/lowers, tourpak, etc.) it will cost you more in the long run than getting a fully dressed touring bike (in most cases). Really depends on what you want to do to it and on it. Just my .02 .

Either bike will be a great choice. Best of luck and let us know what you decide.

That's a very personal choice. It basically comes down to faring or no faring.

Usually riding 100 miles or less ? 400 mile days ?
Want a sound system ?

Is there any possibility for a 2011 RK? Reason being is the seat on the 11' is 1" lower and makes for a better feel. The 2010 RK will need a little tweaking if you like the "sit-in" feel...
I know this because I sold my 98' Fatboy and went straight to a RK. I miss the lowness of the softail, but I love the comfort of the RK.

The RGC is factory lowered.

A Road King is very versatile, if you want that. It's the only touring bike that lets you choose fairing or windshield or neither.

I had a 2008 RKC and it was a great bike. It is like two bikes in one but does not meet the true definition of either a tourer or cruiser completely. It is a real good compromise though depending on how you want to use it. I recently bought a new Road Glide due to taking such long trips and not really riding around local all that much. The Road Glide was kind of a compromise between a full blown geezer glide and something that is still kind of cool.

As motor I got a new Roadking every year for work. When I bought my own bike I bought an electraGlide and when I traded it for a new bike I got a Roadglide Ultra. I love the Roadkings but when it was my own money I wanted more.
