Start with the simple first. As some one else has already mentioned, check the hose clamps. I had a leak and it was just loose hose clamps.

I know about the issues with the gasket. I read about that on the forum. I made damn sure it was installed correctly. When I installed mine it came with the old style gasket. The new one has a self adhesive side that mine didn't have. I think I just have to re-torque the oil filter adapter fitting. I made a special tool to install this so when I do my winter mods I will remove and install a new gasket. I refereed to silicone but I was referring to Permatex as it is all silicone anyway!

A good way to find the oil leak is to clean all the oil residue off and make sure it is dry then dust the area with baby powder. Start the bike and you will be able to trace the leak. That is how I found a cracked case behind the lifter blocks on my 89.

baby powder is a great idea, i will have to file that for future use.
