Question Fuel Gauge

I had a fuel gauge that would stop working & fall to empty. At first it was once in a while. Then more often so I replace the gauge. Now the new gauge reads full all the time. The bike is an 06 carburated Electra Glide. Any ideas what part it may be before I pull the tank apart? Thanks for any opinions.
