Default Helmet Hot Spot!

Have a new helmet, the Evoline Shark II. One of the finest helmets that I've ever owned and perfect for my style of riding.

Unfortunately, it gives me a hot spot in the center of my forehead! (The helmet only comes in a "round" and my head is "oval".)

I'm thinking of trimming down the styrofoam liner a little at a time right where the hot spot develops.

Has anyone else had a situation like this and how did you correct it? (Can't return the helmet as it is now "used".)

I found a way to get behind the liner on my Bell 3/4 and used a knife to shave a little styrofoam out of the forehead area.Go slow, take a little and maybe wear it a while. You can always trim a bit more but can't replace it.

Of course none of the above is DOT approved but personally I'm thinking my helmet's just as safe,I know it's comfortable.

Ditto here...
Goofy shaped head, different brand of helmet, same solution - peel back the liner carefully and shave a SMALL bit at a time.
Wear for a bit and re-check.

Same thing here! I also took a Mag flashlight and used the screw on end to rub the foam down as hard as I could push on it. Didn't have to pull the liner out, and it springs back a little if you over do it. Couple of passes and it was good to go.

I was in the exact same situation. I used the back of a large srewdriver handle and sublty massaged the liner down until it fit perfectly.

Like some of the other replies, I would rub the styrofoam down rather than cutting it. That's what we did for our ACH (advanced combat helmet) when breaking in a new liner. Use the maglight end over the spot where it hurts. Good luck!

I used a hammer handle to shape mine.

Not sure what you mean by "rub it down"?

You mean compress it inward toward the shell?
