I had the smaller Jackpots (3.5 inch??). They say the 4 inch sound the same. You should be fine with just changing slip-ons, just don't expect any performance gains. If you are worried about running too lean (which we already are) just keep an eye on the plugs.

I removed my Jackpots because they were a little too loud for the wife while touring. We have done some 8-10 hour days, she had headaches by the end of the day.

If you leave your stock air cleaner in place you can add the Jackpot 4" mufflers with no problems. While sound is very objective, the Jackpot Dyno Tuned mufflers are only 2dB louder in the cruise range than the stock mufflers when used on catalyst equipped bike, and on a non-catalyst equipped bike they are 3dB louder, however at full throttle they have a nice deep, powerful sound. Sound level is on the very reasonable side as far as aftermarket mufflers are concerned, we also offer an optional tunable quiet baffle as well as competition baffles for the 3.5" mufflers and will have them soon for the 4" Jackpots. You can also expect a 2-4 Hp gain that has been dyno proven hundreds of times with just the muffler swap, and as much as 8-9 more with the Stage 1 air cleaner and retuning.

Here is some information on some dB test info we have performed for our Jackpot Dyno Tuned mufflers along with the optional Jackpot Competiton baffles and Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle. These tests were performed using SAEJ2825 test procedures using a JTW digital sound meter. The test bike was a 2009 Touring model with stock headpipes and Stage 1 air cleaner.

Stock mufflers IDLE 78.4 dB SET RPM 90.9 dB
Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle with Silent Insert in IDLE 81.9 dB SET RPM 91.7 dB
Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle with Silent Insert out IDLE 83.6 dB SET RPM 92.5 dB
Jackpot Dyno Tuned baffles IDLE 83.6 dB SET RPM 93.9 dB
Jackpot Competition Baffles IDLE 89.3 dB SET RPM 100.3 dB
Jackpot Carbon Billet mufflers IDLE 84.5 dB SET RPM 97.8 dB

For Comparison:
Rinehart Slip on mufflers IDLE 84.6 dB SET RPM 98.9 dB
Rush slip on w/ 2.00 baffles IDLE 84.2 dB SET RPM 98.2 dB

The 4" sound totally different than the 3.5s. Much deeper and less crack. I ride w/ a guy that has the 3.5s on his 2007 SG and they seem louder and he contends he can't hear my 4" ers after I pull off from a stop while he is riding behind.

If tested on the same bike with the same headpipe and mods a 3.5" and 4" muffler will sound the same if they have the same core, there is only a .25 difference in air gap between the muffler body between them. This is something we have tested extensively with both dB equipment and on-road testing. Mufflers also sound different with the "new style" OEM 2/1/2 headpipes compared to the earlier headpipe, and the 2010/2011 catalyst headpipes sound different yet as the catalyst suppresses sound by as much as 2-3 dB.

As a side note when comparing the Rinehart slip ons, it is important to note there have been signifigant changes in the internals over the years. The previous Rinehart by Bub mufflers had several baffle variations over the years, while the current Rinehart mufflers produced by Clearline Inc have all used the same 2.25 cores in their 3.5" and 4" mufflers. Overall while they have changed, they have all sounded and performed well

They are both excellent mufflers. Some prefer the styling and looks of the larger muffler body, performance is the same
