Roadtech zumo handlebar mount
The Roadtech handlebar mount #92378-09 comes with instructions and connectors for hardwiring to the fuse box, etc. Has anyone done this, or is hardwiring to the accessory switch, battery, headlight, etc. better alternatives?

I have the Zumo 665 and mounted it on the faring. It has a inline fuse so what I did my amplifier is mounted on top of my radio. I took the hot right off the amp and the orange switched power right off there also. Works fine no issues and made for a clean and easy install.

Wired to the spare connectors behind the headlight it will turn on & off with the ignition. The exception being that when you turn the ignition off the Zumo will ask if you want to continue on battery. It gives you about 30 seconds to answer before it turns off automatically. If you want to use the GPS without the motor running you simply press "yes". My 550 will operate for several hours on it's internal battery.

I even went as fax to connect to the external XM radio antenna, burried in the cowling. - GREAT SETUP!

on my 08 road glide i wired it to an empty slot in the fuse block using the pig tail they give you in the kit, it was a PITA, had to remove fuel tank to run wire in plastic tray under tank, take out battery to have room to do wiring at fuse block. most just run wire to the spade connectors on headlight wiring harness inside fairing
