Post Road King detatchable windshield question

Hi, I am new to the forum and own a 2007 fuel injected Road King Classic. I removed my detachable windshield for the first time and now it seems the two spring clips that are supposed to help hold the windshield in place are not low enough to drop behind the top rubber bushing (it may have always been that way, but I am not sure). I assume the clips are supposed to drop down behind the bushing to keep the windshield from moving forward and possibly falling off. If this is true, it looks as though these clips need to be bent down so that they will rest in a lower position. Since the owner's manual does not really provide any specifics on the spring clips, I do not want bend the clips until I am sure that is what they are for. Any assistance/input would be appreciated. Thank You
Respectfully,
Scott

Bend them enough to work.

spring clips are for you to hold when removing or replacing windshield. set lower into position then put upper into position and push into place, i find the springs helpful when removing but little help to reinstall. hope this helpfull..good luck with king

Like ken said, I don't find that the springs serve as any type of retention device... rather, just an aid in removing the windshield.

Mine seem to work fine but I vaguely remember that I had to bend them at some time or another.

Bend 'em.

Default Just bend them back down

Their made out of a spring steel that bends as much as it springs back. Every so often they just need to be bent back down into position.
