I've never seen or heard of a Harley that would hit the rev limiter in 5th or 6th gear no matter how long the throttle was open. I guess I might have a bad tune.
Same bike, same color. Buddy of mine was f##king with me on his RK a few weeks ago. Took off with him on a straight smooth country road looked down and was doing 115 with the wife on the back. Got out of it, way to fast with her on the back. Bike was still climbing when I got out it. Yes, it is smooth and mine is still stock.
Fastest I ever had my 01 FLHR was 105 but it is an 01 with the 88ci and 5 speed. That was about all I could get out of it but just wanted to see what it would handle like and it was fine. I don't make a habit of going more than 5 over the speed limit.
I usually like to jump on it to 80 or 90 then drop back to about 5 or 10 over the limit ...But every so often when on a straight county road when some one is messing with me I have found that 5th will pull more speed faster from 95 to 115 than 6th ..6th will just hold it at lower RPM.. Usually I pass or pull along side till we are about done 115 or 120 then drop into 6th and slow down they think I have alot more and leave me alone after that
