a guy just offered this to me tonight and the wheels in my little melon started spinning. they are off of an 09, but i know that my motor an 02 has a strong bottom end was wondering what it would take to build it.
the guy want 200 for jugs, pistons, heads

i would need flywheel, rods, pistons?

The engine mount set up on late model bikes has no effect on them fitting earlier bikes. It is just a tapped machined area the can be easily disguised put a couple of chrome cap screws in and nobody gives it a second look.

You will have to get a new set of pistons like cast flat tops because the later model pistons are different due to the stroked crank. The Jugs themselves will make your 88 a 95". Depending on the mileage of the new jugs you might get by with just a hone job or still pretty cheap to go one size over on your new pistons.

Head volumn does not change cubic inch displacement as we measure it in all engines; bore and stroke are the determining factor of CID . In a non technical way to say, flow does matter , compression ratio also , and on and on and on . It's fun to tweek ur bike perfomance ; but you're probably getting less than a big bang for the buck doing much with your heads and not your CID also.
Jukin My SG to 103 and a tune has been a plus .

The '06 and later heads are going for more than $200. Do the deal, over bore the cylinders to .010" and install a set of .010" over SE cast flat top pistons; have the heads worked, i.e., multi angle valve job, new guide seals and take about .020" off the deck; install with .030" head gasket and make your 88" a 95". Install a set of bolt in cams, say Andrews TW26 or TW37, fuel management system/tune or rejet if carbed and you will notice a big difference in performance. Change inner cam bearings when replacing cams and install new tensioners. The chain is already "polished" and a new set of tensioner shoes should last a long time.

You can't use the rods or pistons but $200 for cylinders and heads is a bargain. If you don't want the deal, let me know.

i already have the 95 seII with gear drive tw50's, power commander, k&n air filter, klock werks double back header with CFR mufflers. i just didnt know if the jugs were any bigger, and i had heard that the heads flowed alot better then my 02's
