Why not just buy the falsee pipe for the D&D if wanting dual looks are the only problem. Many on here wil tell you that you have the right pipe on there for that set up already.

If I were him, I would ride it like it is for awhile. Sounds as if the previous owner has a nice setup on it. Plus it will be hard to tell any improvement if he changes stuff now. JMO

Ditto on the ghost pipe. You have the best set up for performance.
I have the D&D with ghost pipe and no one really knows but you.

Hmm...thats not a bad idea--

I figured, based on what i've read on here, that the D&D was a keeper, and the best pipe for the power---so i had an idea the responses were going to be along the lines of "keep it"...
Hadnt thought about the "ghost" pipe. May try that route.

Anyne have any comments on the T-man 590 cam?
Thought about maybe going a little bigger.

The bike dynoed at 113/110 BEFORE the D7D pipe change.

The 590 is a good cam for that bike. I've got a 625 in the Night Train's 103. It makes silly power, but it's farther to the right than you'd want on a Bagger. It sounds like we're running very similar builds, I'm at 10.5:1, 58mm TB, roller rockers, and Stage II heads. I'm making 116/116 with a "B" motor and a Lowcat with a quiet baffle. If I switched to a Fatcat/standard baffle, I'd be over 120/120.

Stick with the D&D, get a ghost pipe. The Doherty is a great a/c, but at 103 it's overkill. Get a higher-flow a/c and have the bike tuned. I think you're probably leaving a little power on the table.

Get a used 09 stock headpipe and then find some good used slip-ons for about $500 and your dad will be happy.

Excellent reply--thank you sir.
I felt we were a little light on the numbers too--purely a tuning issue. Thats the same thing T-Man told me too. I called him and he was pretty concerned about the numbers--said we should be higher than that. He felt the tuner did not do complete job, and recommended somone else.

I think thats probably the route we'll go for now, keep the D&D a while, and get it retuned.
By the way--I have th same kit you have, ordered for my softail. Im running a carb, but Tman assured me i should be making numbers close to what your seeing....
Its a couple weeks away, so now i just wait...

You're quite welcome.

You didn't mention which pipe you had on your Softie, but let me give you my take. Given the way I ride, I'd drag a Fatcat mercilessly. The Lowcat gives me all the cornering clearance I need, but for whatever reason lacks the Fatcat's stepped headers. The look is good, the sound is great (quiet baffle), and I don't have to worry about scraping up my pipe. But that said, the pipe's hurting performance. I can't see spending the cake on an LSR, and I think I'd have clearance problems with that too.

TR's good people. Glad to hear he took care of you.

I run a set of custom stepped pipes from CCS Choppers in Chicago...Look at my profile pics. They are awesome pipes--2in2 style, great sound and picked up some power with them over the V&H big radius i had before.
However--Im lowered down to the bump stops, and he outside pipe drags relentlessly. Ive almost worn the tip off of it.
I love the look and sound of them--but Im thinking about picking up some 2-1's. I see there is a set of hooker fourbiddens (4-1) for sale in the classifieds, and Im seriously considering those.

Would you go with a bigger cam? TR wants me to run the 662..

The 662 is a lot of cam. I think if I went that route, I'd swap jugs and make it a 107, and probably upgrade to Stage III heads. At that point I think I'd have to get a more serious pipe too. It'd probably take me into the mid to upper 120s......

My wife would shoot me.

TR's got a better feel for it than I do, but I'd think that a 107 with that 662 and Stage III heads would be a killer ride. Especially in a 600 pound Softie rather than a 900 pound bagger.

By the way, your pipes are sick-looking.
