I have 4 Harleys in the garage right now,Twin Cams, Evos and Panheads.
I have owned many brands of motorcycle over the years.
My experience tells me to use products purpose made for these bikes- oil is a crucial part of the cooling system on these bikes.
and change at or before service intervals- ALWAYS store a bike with fresh clean oil.
my newest bike is a 2009, I can't believe how nice and clean the oil is coming out at changes, with I still do at 3000 miles.
oil is cheap, filters too

I agree! My main concern is reports of varnish build up on valve stems, causing the valve to stick. This is definitely oil related and happening to a few low mileage bikes. Usually the rear cylinder exhaust valve. I use Redline in my motor.
For the engine, it's a toss up between Mobil1 and Amsoil. For the primary, you will find that every oil you put in there will give a little different feel to the clutch. Find one you that you like the way the clutch works.
For the trany, I have been running Spectro 6 Speed and found it quiets down the 5th gear wine and take away almost all of the 1st gear noise on decel. When I had my 25K service done, the shop called to tell me they were out of the Spectro and aked if I would try Redline Shockproof. I let them put in the Redline and although it is quieter than the SYN III, it is not as quiet as the Spectro.
I use Mobile V-twin in Engine and Primary and Mobile 75-90 gear oil in the transmission. Thinking of switching to the heavier Mobile in the transmission at the next interval.
