Just completed my Transmission sprocket change from a 32 tooth to a 30 tooth on my 07 FLHTC and it's true about the post on the Jims, Georges Garage and HD sprocket Locker, that they will not work with it's present shape when you reinstall the 30 tooth sprocket and use a 2 1/4" socket.
There is not enough clearence between the two. I had made my own and when reading the post on the sprocket tool not working to reinstall I had bench tested mine and mine clears. What I can't understand is why the manufactured ones are aluminum and not steel and not radiused for the shoe that clamps inside on the smooth side of the sprocket so the socket will clear. Mine isn't the smoothest looking but it sure does the job and is a lot sturdier. I believe if you have the know how and equiptment make you own, it just doesn't seem to make sense to spent more money on the tools than the project cost. Granted I have a whole roleaway full of American Made tools and Jims special tools but why did they change from an 1 7/8 to a 2 1/4 mainshaft nut now my pre 06 Dyna socket is useless on anything newer. That's what drove me to start again to make my own tools.
