I actually was checking out that 107 the other night. It seems really reasonable on price. The stage 4 I was looking into is from R&R and its a lot more money but it also comes with a lot, welded ports reworked by cnc, valves, tuning etc. They are about 10 minutes from my house which is what I like esp for tuning and if I have problems. It just seems pricey

I'd like to see a dyno sheet from R&R build. Not so much for peak numbers but more interested in the curves. I drew out the curves of the fuel Moto 107 kit on one of my dyno sheets with the setup you see in my signature and the curves basically mirrored my dyno sheet only they were quite a bit higher which is what is most impressive to me. You are right about the price! That's alot of dough for the R&R build.

I have 103 heads and pistons with about 2000 miles on them, and a set of heads that were just worked, (flowed, valve job, compression releases) that i'll make you a good deal on. PM me if interested. I can have them bored to a 107 and get you pistons also.

I used to think stock with pipe and a/c. Then I added cams and a big bore kit. Now its getting head work and more compression with bigger cams. Enjoy your ride just dont sacrifice dependabilty.

Exactly! Couldn't agree more. If you want brag about your HP and torque, buy a Gold Wing. If you want speed, buy one of the liter-sized bikes and get your 150+MPH jollies every day. It's that simple. Bikes are designed for specific purposes, thus their power plants and drive trains, tires, luggage, saddles, rake, wheel size, etc., are designed to compliment that purpose.

But it is fun to try to make these things better, (look better, sound better, run better, etc.) and sometimes it's impractical to justify the money. Because if we were justifying money, we might have a difficult time justifying our decision to purchase a Harley product. So each to his own. If you wanna make it the best it can be, then go for it. But just remember that once you crack open that engine, there is no guarantee that you will get the improvements you want without the trade-offs of other issues for which the procedure itself could create. Remember, our decisions are really the only thing that each of us can truly call our own. Make a good one.
Enjoy life and live good!

I get it now. So, if you want to have a nice and shiny bike with lots of chrome, you should just buy a CVO bike and not personalize it with after market chrome.

after 3 and half years my Road Glide is now in the shop getting a 103 build with cams.....figure that's cheaper than buying a new Glide and starting over......
Hopefully I'll be picking her up tomorrow!!!!!!!!

there's nothing like a hot rod harley. there are a lot of imitations, vulcans with drag pipes etc, but harleys got soul. a harley with big inches, lopey cam, gnarly exhaust, it don't get any better than that. the screamin eagle 259-E cams, high compression, and 2 into 1 pro pipe, along with great dyno tuning bring a smile to my face every time i roll on the throttle. it's a gas and i can imagine how boring it'd be to go back to a stock motor.

I think one aspect that everyone is overlooking is the enjoyment you can get by making the modifications (engine, chrome, electrics, sound, accessories, etc.) yourself, if that is your thing. The woody comes when the modifications you made actually improve the bike in your eyes. Sometimes I have no choice but to pay to have work done (porting, dyno, etc.) but everything else I do myself. I don't feel it would be as enjoyable to just pay some builder to do the work.

I was going to build a hotrod or a kit car of maybe a Jeep but I don't have the room in my shop. I do have enough room to work on my bike and there is even a slight possibility that the bike will cost less (I said slight!). <G>
