It started in 2009 with the new design 407R tire and nothing has been done at HD or Dunlop...someone should start at class action case on this one. I am on my 3rd rear and they just keep cupping and know one can say why....from Cust Sve to the CEO.

My tires on my 08 SG were cupped badly at 13K. Replaced them both and the bike got totaled when a guy pulled out right in front of me 2 days later, LOL.
My 09 SG is at just over 11K and the back tire isn't in great shape. It's cupping and the tread in the center is almost gone. Front tire is ok, but I'm not putting the stock H-D Dunlops on anymore (why get another set to cup again like the rest of them?), so I bought a set of the Dunlop American Elites. Hope to get them put on sometime in the next couple weeks and I'll post a review on them once I've got some significant mileage on them.

About 12,000 miles on the 09 Ultra and no complaints. Still have good tread left and no cupping.

on my 07, i was lucky to get 10k out of a rear tire. on my '10, with the multi compound, i am at 12k right now, and still have lots of life left.

the american elites are too new to really have much info out on them. are you thinking of the elite IIIs? if you are, i had a set of them on my 07. had 19k on them, rear tire still had lots of life left, when i traded the bike in.

i'd be surprised if you didn't get at least 10k on the new compound. as far as pressure goes, i'm running 38 front and rear.

I have '10 Limited that started cupping around 8k. By 10k they are so bad it sounds like I am riding on the rumble strip everytime I corner. Tried to get the local HD dealer the warrenty them. They said No, only warrenty is on the 408's that were used on the front of Earlier Touring bikes. Just got a set of the American Elites. Completely different Tread pattern. Hope to get them installed soon.
