That's because you guys actually ride! I used to ride with a couple of friends who were **** in the extreme about keeping their bikes clean. They treated their bikes to something akin to a helicopter maintenance schedule. Three to four hours cleaning for every one hour ridden.

We took a week long ride one year and they got to ribbing me because my bike wasn't spotless all the time. It wasn't filthy but like the pictures, there were a few bug spots on the fairing. I finally told them, "I bought the bike to ride, not sit around and rub on!" That shut em up at the time.

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

Ok,
last year I bought the complete truck lite package based on the review of the P6.
(I refuse to look at the review of the P7 lest I be tempted)

I love the P6 - but for the life of me, I can't get the bloody spots installed!
The problem is the collar just will not fit into the grooves all the way around - with my original lights - it fits like a glove.
This is while using the stock alignment ring - the one that the stock light's align with - so they will not spin.

I did notice with that alignment ring - the truck lite spots will not make contact with the notch - and will spin.

I tried not using the alignment ring - and while the collar fit perfectly - light was very loose and spun freely.

For now - I have the P6 and the stock spots - and boy, do they look yellow in comparison...

I'm guessing you are using the stock trim rings...???

Not sure why some have an issue and others don't. I personally installed them in 5 bikes - 3 with frenched trim rings and 2 with stock. I was able to get them all in (the stock was a bit tight).

I have a suggestion - if it won't fit at all with the alignment rings - leave them out and line the inside of the rings with some dense rubberized foam. That should make them secure and not allow rotation.

And I'd bet if you read the P7 review - you'll be more than tempted... :^))

Good luck...

Yes, stock trim rings.

*sigh* I took a look at the P7 review...

Maybe I can find someone who is on the fence and would buy a P6 Cheap ;-)

Or the possibility of finding someone who doesn't know about the P7 yet. LOL

You should have no problem getting $150 for your P6 IMO.

Ok Bogie, did I miss it? We've been really busy at work lately and I've been trying to keep an eye out for your P7 review but haven't seen it yet.

???

Thanks,
Steve R.

Well, I gotta admit - I'm confused... I swear I posted this to this thread. Went back to previous posts and couldn't find it. Guess I've finally slipped off the page - unless the powers that be got upset because I also started a new thread with the same info and pulled it from here...

The completed Phase 7 review is available at:

www.bogiesreviews.webs.com

It takes a while to download - it's a large file...

Compares the JW/HD LEDs to the new, redesigned Truck-Lite/Kuryakyn LEDs being called the Phase 7

Enjoy.

Any and all comments welcome.

I like having a clean bike. But am far from **** about it. In fact I just washed mine last night. Hadn't been washed since last October. I had 2011 bug guts.

Hey Bogie,

Thanks so much. Now I don't feel so bad. I thought I'd lost it or something.

Anyway, the write up was great. First class as usual. I haven't been able to ride much the past few months because of so much other "stuff" going on in my life but I think I'm finally ready to jump on board. I agree that the P7 isn't quite up to the P6 standards for day time noticability but honestly, I thought it still superior to the HD version and night time light converage for the P7 seemed much closer to HD's offering. The P6's were close enough, considering the pricing advantage and the P7's only make that better.

Thanks again for all your efforts. Kudo's to you and Travis both in this endeavor. Your work makes our decisions much easier to make!

Ride Safe,
Steve R.
